Menard County Game and Livestock Protection Association

The Menard County Game and Livestock Protection Association was created in 2010.  The mission of the organization is to work with landowners, hunters, and wildlife/livestock managers to protect their wildlife and livestock investments from predation in Menard County.  The association is a non-profit organization funded by its members and administrated by an elected board of members in the program.

The Menard County Game and Livestock Protection Association is partnered with the Texas Sheep and Goat Raiser’s Association Predator Management Board which provides additional funding to the Menard County Game and Livestock Association to help landowners with the purchase of traps or snares, the hiring of trapper services, purchase or maintenance of livestock guardian dogs, and flying services for the purpose of predation control.  Additional advisors to the program include the Menard County AgriLife Extension Service, the Menard County Game Warden, and the Menard County Sheriff’s Office.

Besides sponsoring or conduction programs to help educate interested wildlife/livestock producers about the impact of predation on the Menard County economy, the association offers an outstanding incentive in the form of bounty payments paid on coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, red fox, and feral hogs, that are taken on enrolled property.
